Music
director G.V. Prakash Kumar, the baby-faced nephew of
Oscar-winner A.R. Rahman, appears all set to become a hero in
Kollywood. The 25-year old music director recently completed
scoring music for 25 films when Vikram’s Thaandavam hit the
screens last weekend.
Reports emanating from Kolly circles say that GV Prakash has
given into the temptation of trying his hand at acting and might
soon be making his debut as hero in a film to be directed by
Rajasekar Prakash, who had earlier been assisting
director-producer A.R. Murugadoss in all his films.
Directors turning heroes has been a regular
phenomenon in Tamil films. However, music directors haven’t
played lead roles in Tamil films except for making a ‘special
appearance’ or playing brief roles. Deviating from this
unwritten rule, music director Vijay Anthony debuted as hero
with Naan which released a couple of months ago. To his credit,
Anthony had done a wonderful job and the film turned out to be
an average hit film.
Apparently following suit, GV Prakash is said to have decided to
make his debut as hero for which talks are going on and nothing
has been finalized as yet. The heroine and other artistes in the
proposed film are to be chosen.
It may be recalled that some time back, GVP had hinted that if
he was ever going to act in films, he’d prefer only pairing up
opposite a Bollywood heroine. Did this comment ever reach
